SECOND SHOOTING FUN

The past few months I second shoot with two amazing photographers, Shae Owens and Kimberly Wilson. I always have a blast helping others shoot weddings. I am constantly learning something new every time I shoot. Shae and I go way back. I met her at church and she also happened to be the photographer for my sister's wedding. I can't believe five years later and I am shooting a wedding with her. I would of never thought I would be working with her, let alone become a wedding photographer. But I am loving it more and more everyday. I met Kimberly last year when WPPI was doing a roadshow here in Atlanta. She is an amazing photographer in Savannah and has an adorable southern twang!!!!

THINGS THAT MAKE YOU GO HMMM....

Ok so please forgive me for neglecting my blog. I am so excited to tell you all that I am working on a new blog!!!! Yay- I have been waiting for this magical moment for a loooong time!!! I can't wait to share with you all the changes I am implementing, and oh my pictures will be alot bigger on my posts.

I just wanted to share with you all a few things that make me feel warm!! Last week I got an IPhone. I know I may seem late, but my time finally came. I have been wanting this phone forever, and let me just tell you I love it to pieces. How could I live so long with out this phone? Along with my IPhone I bought a leather Sena Walletbook to carry my phone and also carry by debit card/license. The first time I saw this wallet, I just had to have it. Have you ever seen something and think to yourself I have to have this even though I have no need for it. Well, that was me. Well now that I have use for it I ordered it last week and it came in the mail today!! These adorable wallets come in many colors.

A few weeks ago Daniel and I went shopping at the North Georgia Premium outlets. I love when you find something you are not looking for. We walked into the Puma store and there they were in the shoe section, I love me some shoes!!! I looked at Daniel and asked him what he thought. He liked them and told me to try them on. First thing I thought to myself was, these shoes are great shooting shoes. I tried them on and sure enough they fit like a glove. I know as photographers we are always looking for shoes that give us comfort and are stylish when shooting. The first time I used these was a few weeks ago when I was second shooting a wedding.

ATLANTA SHOW IT FREEDOM TOUR

This past Friday I attended the Show It Freedom Tour at Ambient Plus Studio in downtown Atlanta. I was excited to hear from amazing people in the photography/videography industry. We heard from David Jay, Ron Dawson, Jim Davis-Hicks, and Promise Tangeman. Not only did we hear from great speakers but we also had Molly Jenson perform. The night was truly a night to remember.

It was a great time meeting new friends and connecting with old ones. Ron Dawson spoke about incorporating videos into our business in a way that our clients get to know us better. Jim Davis-Hicks spoke for a brief moment about simplifying out workflow with a software he created called Action Runner. Jim is a photographer and the founder of an organization called Thirst Relief. Not only is he passionate about photography but about providing clean-safe water to the poorest cities of this world. Promise Tangeman is not only an amazing photographer but an amazing graphic designer. This girl is full of creativity and has an eye like no other. She spoke about branding and how to customize your business to fit who you are.

WHAT'S ON MY MIND: DANIEL PEREZ

Dear Baby,

What an awesome day we had!! It's days like this that I want to always remember how much fun we have. We woke up and had a hearty breakfast of yummy cereal. We decided that today we were going to hang out with our two year old niece, Shirel and nephew, Joshua. We picked them up and headed to the outlets. It felt so weird because we are not use to having kids with us, but it was fun. At times I felt like people were looking at me like what is she doing?!?!? I had trouble opening doors with a big stroller and I would bump into things at the store. But I enjoyed every minute of it. It was nice to have a Saturday off because I have been nonstop for the past few weeks. We shopped until we dropped. We kissed and held each others hands, something I will be missing while you are gone, and enjoyed being with family. It was nice to give your sister and my sister a break! I love the little things that you do, even though I had diaper duty! You are an amazing husband with a BIG heart. You are always thinking of others and making sure I am HAPPY!! I loved watching you get happy at buying the littlest things for yourself, you are so cute :) Everyday I learn to be a better wife, photographer, and friend!!! Thank you for being by my side and my new puma shoes!!! :)

WHAT'S ON MY MIND: GOOD COMPANY.

Last week was one of those crazy weeks. You know those kind of weeks where everything goes wrong and you think to yourself can it get any worse? I had one of those weeks where I was questioning God and myself on what I was doing. I was thinking, "Am I really doing what God has called me to do"? Am I really a good photographer? I have to remind myself that God has me where he wants me. It was a stressful week at work and my photography to do list was as long as the Nile River. Ok so maybe I am exaggerating a little bit, but for real it was long.

Last Thursday, I walked in our apartment and saw a half a dozen red,white, and pink roses on our dining room table with a card. As soon as I saw the roses I felt a warmth in my heart. As I read the card tears started to fall on my cheeks, not because I was sad but because it touched me and I was overwhelmed with something so small but yet so meaningful. I walked in our bedroom and saw there were more flowers and a Kit Kat bar (my fav). My husband constantly reminds me of who I am and what I can do. I am thankful for times like this, because it humbles me and makes me stronger.

Friday afternoon I drove to Pembroke, Ga to help my friend, Kimberly Wilson shoot a wedding. I had been looking forward to this all month, but with the week I had, I just did not feel like going. Of course I was still going to go, after all she was depending on me and I wanted to be true to my word. I stayed the whole weekend and had a blast. I don't think she will ever know how much it meant to me. We woke up early Saturday morning and drove to Waycross, Ga to shoot Tommy and Beth's wedding. This couple is adorable and I realized, I am doing what I absolutely love!!! I am in the process of editing their pictures but just thought I would post one picture.

WERE HAVING A BABY: Jose, Vivi, Marcelo, and Angelo

I woke up Monday morning to the sounds of rain drops tapping against my bedroom window. I immediately got up and began to think about Jose and Vivi's maternity session. Vivi is expecting her second son in July and wanted to get some outside maternity pictures. Hoping for the best I called Vivi and asked her if she still wanted to have her session. To my surprise she said, "Yes, how about we wait until the rain goes away"?. To be honest I did not think the rain was going to go away.

Once we arrived at downtown Duluth, the weather was not that bad. Yes it was slightly overcast but then the sun pierced through the clouds and made a debut. I had a blast getting to know this family. I love to be able to pause and freeze moments for my clients. Vivi and Jose thank you for sharing your life with me. I had a blast hanging out with you all and can't wait to see Angelo!!

GOING TO THE CHAPEL: IVAN & ELIZABETH

"Your wedding is when'?, I asked. Elizabeth called me and and told me she was getting married in two weeks, and wanted me to photograph her wedding. I was happy, excited, and nervous. We spoke briefly about the wedding and about her and Ivan. We both said our good bye and hung up the phone.

My mother happened to be at my apartment when I got off the phone with Elizabeth, and told her what just happened. She was so excited for me and told me that I could do it! Elizabeth and Ivan have been together for 14 years and have two adorable boys. I was so happy to be a part of their wedding. The day could not have been as perfect as it was. It was supposed to rain the day of their wedding and thankfully the clouds parted and the sun came out. This was a special wedding because both sides of the family came from Peru and the reception was at the couple's house. This family is so infectious and so welcoming to both Daniel and I.

I am so blessed to be able to do what I love. Especially when I have awesome clients as Ivan and Elizabeth. Thank you so much Ivan and Elizabeth for giving us the privilege of being a part of a day that you both will never forget.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY: NOAH, NATE, AND NOLAN

This past Friday I had an awesome session with three little boys, Noah, Nate, and Nolan. Their dad, Travis contacted me about doing a surprise Mother's Day shoot for his wife and mom. I was thrilled about his idea and could not have been more excited for them. We took these pictures at Alexander Park in Snellville, Ga. I was immediately smitten by this park because it has tons and tons of fields. I love shooting pictures in fields, especially when I am photographing three little boys. These little guys did so good and had so much fun.

Thank you Travis for letting me in on your Mother's Day secret. Shannon and Grandma I hope you both had a wonderful Mother's Day and enjoy these pictures!!!!

Are you an avid blog reader? I know without a doubt I am!! I love reading blogs and can spend hours and hours reading them. I wanted to share with you all some of the blogs that I absolutely love and inspire me.

Momtog - This is a blog that is dedicated to moms who love photography. Even though I do not have children, I love reading this blog because Drew is so informative about photography and her little boy Brayden is such a cutie pie!

Jasmine Star Blog - This girl is a rad wedding photographer based out of Orange County, Ca. I am pretty sure you have heard of her, if not go and check her out. Be prepared to spend hours and hours on her blog. Her writing is phenomenal. I love the way she writes about her clients, and whenever I am reading their story I feel like I am reading a novel. I love to read her FAQ's about photography.

Fashion Face - Is more a website than a blog. For those of you that know me, you know how much I love make up. This website has tutorial videos on how to apply fashion and celebrity inspired make up looks. This website is run by two sisters from the UK who are make-up artists.

I am Style-ish - This blog is fun and talks all about fashion. I mean who does not love fashion? This blog is run by Tiffany. She takes daily pictures of her outfits and talks about what she is wearing. She also happens to be a wedding photographer with an eye for fashion. I love her style and the fact that she posts information on where you can buy what she is wearing.

Three Men and a Lady - This blog is all about interior design. I can't wait until we buy a house because this is going to be my guide to decorating my future house. Michelle uses cheap furniture and makes them into a master piece. She has an eye for design and I love her style.

Justin & Mary - I love reading this blog. This is a husband and wife photography team and I just want to say how adorable they are. I love their work, but most importantly I am always learning something new!! I love to read about their house renovation, stories with their dog Cooper and their awesome car, the mini cooper. I had the privilege of hearing Justin and Mary at WPPI 2010 and was blown away by their presentation.

From Marriage to Motherhood - I love reading this blog. Jessica got married to Mr. Wonderful, they had a baby, and now she is a stay at home mom/wife. I love to read stories of beautiful baby Ilah and see how much she is growing. She talks about everything, from weddings, babies, reality TV (my fave), home decoration, and the list goes on and on!!

I know these are a lot of blogs, but didn't I tell you that I love reading blogs!! These are just some of my favorite. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

GOING TO THE CHAPEL: ED & DANA

My stomach had knots and I felt very queazy. I get like this before any shoots. A couple of weeks ago I second shoot with Kelly for an awesome couple. We had a blast and perfect weather, except for the wind. I can't express how much I love, love shooting weddings. I love to see people in love make a commitment to each other. I love to see the tears and the sparkle in their eyes when they see each other for the very first time. Ed and Dana are amazing people with big hearts. I loved the way Ed keep on making Dana laugh, which made my job easier. A great couple with a contagious spirit would make any picture look good. Ed and Dana had an awesome Jewish wedding ceremony!!

It was a beautiful sunny day. We woke up and decided to go to the park, ride bikes, and have lunch. Since the weather was perfect I did not want to stay inside. I wanted to be out and enjoy the day!! It was so relaxing, to not have to think about doing anything except having fun. We made sandwiches and had a nice lunch with the family. Baby, I don't want to ever forget moments like this. How much fun we have and how much we laugh!!

PERSONAL: CRAZY LOVE

Remember how I was telling you all that I wanted to start reading more?? Well guess what? I have already read two books this year. I have been reading this book called, "Crazy Love" by Francis Chen. WOW, what a great book!! I've heard a few people talk about how good this book is and decided to buy and read it. Most of the time, I go and buy a book, read a few pages, and set it on my bookcase to collect dust. But not this one.

This book talks about how relentless God is and how much he loves us. Don't get me wrong, it's not like I don't know how much God loves me, but sometimes I get used to His love that I forget what it really means to love him with my whole heart. I went through a time where I thought I knew all about God!! It did't take God long to put me in my place but it did take me long to realize it. I felt burned out. I felt like reading my bible and having quiet time was something I had to do, so that God would not look down on me. I had a guilt cloud hovering over my head.

God wants us to draw near to him, not because we have to but because we want to. I love how Francis' says that our motivation moves from quilt to love. Whenever you are head over heels with someone, you are willing to do whatever it takes to spend time with them. You are not motivated by guilt but by love. Please don't think I have it all together. This is something that I am on a daily basis. I want to be captivated by the love of God. I want to love others because I have been loved.

I have been listening to Kim Walker's song - How He Loves over and over. I love this song!! Every time I hear this song it reminds me of how much God loves me. Here are the lyrics from the song. Read them and Enjoy!!!

ENGAGEMENT: EMILIO & PAULINA

It was 11 years ago that Emilio and Paulina met. Who would have thought that August 28,1999 their lives would forever be changed. Emilio was playing in the worship band at his church one Saturday evening, when he saw Paulina walk in. While Emilio was on stage his eyes caught her and thought to himself, "I've got to meet her". When service was finish he approached her and they started talking.

Emilio and Paulina are getting married on July 25, 2010 at Flint Hill and I could not be any happier for them. We went to Serenbe Farms last week for their engagement session. Here are a few pictures from out shoot. Enjoy!! Paulina you are gorgeous!!

NEWBORN: LUCAS TAPIA

A few days before I left for Las Vegas I took some newborn pictures of Lucas. Remember Alhejandro and Janett?? I took their maternity pictures, and two weeks later Lucas made is debut to the world. I can't believe he is already here, It feels just like yesterday that Janett told me she was expecting. I was so excited to take his pictures because he was the first newborn under two weeks old that I've ever photographed. I had so much fun working with this little guy, I mean what can I say - all he did was sleep. I can't wait to see Lucas grow. I hope these pictures always remind Alhejandro and Janett how small he was before he starts getting big!! Enjoy!!!

CALIFORNIA LOVE

I am so excited to tell you all that Daniel and I are taking a 2 week long trip to LOS ANGELES in September, before he deploys to Afghanistan. I can't wait for this trip because we are also going to have our pictures taken by Ala of Modern Type. I have been a blog stalker of her's for sometime. Her work is amazing and I love her style. I am trying to brainstorm some ideas, so if you have some send me an email or leave me a comment. We will be spending time with my family and driving the cost of California.

You know how much I LOVE "The City of Angels" - and if you did not know, well now you do. If it was up to me I would move there in a heart beat. I am so happy to see my family, I just love them and always have a blast whenever I go visit. I can't wait to eat my grandma's tamales - she makes the best Salvadorean tamales, eva. I can't wait to eat tacos from El Taurino, and cruise Santa Monica.

I am most excited about cruising the coast of California. This is something that Daniel and I have never done, so I am sure that we are going to enjoy this very much and have lots of memories. I can't wait to feel the breeze brushing my hair, smelling the salt water from the beach, feeling the sand between my toes, and most of all just being with him.

WHAT HAPPENED IN LAS VEGAS?

I have no idea where to start. I had such an awesome time at WPPI. This was my first year going and I can't even begin to tell you what I learned. I went to Las Vegas with Lora and Kelly, and couldn't have chosen anyone else to go with, they were the perfect roomies. I meet Lora last year in September at WPPI Roadshow in Atlanta, but never spoke to her after that. I was nervous about our trip because I did not know her personally and was afraid that the three of us would not get along. We had such a blast being roommates and what I was afraid of was completely opposite, we got along quite well!!! Lora is an amazing person with a big heart for photography. She is a mom, wife, and a beautiful person inside and out.

We left Atlanta Sunday morning and arrived in Las Vegas after lunch. We were so excited about our trip that we were like girls at a New Kids on the Block concert. After we checked in we did a little gambling just for fun- after all we were in Las Vegas. The only time I ever gambled was when I was a little girl. My dad use to give me, my sister, and my brother each a lottery ticket so that we could choose our numbers - Does that count? I had no idea what I was doing, but I did win $3.50. I was so excited, I know that $3.50 is not a lot of money but hey it's better than nothing.

I arrived at WPPI lost and wandering without a vision. Don't get me wrong I had my passion for photography, but I did not know who I was or how I was different from other photographers. Photography has helped me discover a side of me that I did not realize I had. God has definitely used photography to develop a real passion in my life.

I attended Jesh De Rox's class and left with joy and a new sense of direction!! I also attended Jasmine Stars' class and it rocked my world. She spoke about Ghetto Fabulous Marketing. The last session I attended was Justin & Mary's class. Mary reminded me that I can do whatever I want!! Don't let anyone tell you that you can't follow your dreams. I have been having this little thing called fear stalking me for the past couple of weeks. To make matters worse my memory card deleted wedding pictures from a wedding that I had second shot for Kelly. I felt horrible. I wanted to crawl in a hole and cry. I started to question God - Is this really what you want me to do? Did the pictures delete for a reason? God are you trying to tell me something? I sent Daniel a text and told him what happened. I told him that I wanted to go home. But as good as he is, he reminded that everything would be ok (we were able to recover the pictures !!!) I knew that WPPI would be good, but I didn't think is was going to be that GOOD!! I left Las Vegas with a new mind set and a sense of refreshment. God showered me with his GRACE.

The highlight of my trip was Wednesday morning at Photog Unite. Photog Unite is where a group of photographers come together to glorify God. We had worship and then Mike Larson began to read the Word. We then divided into small groups by regions and just began to talk about God and photography. It was so awesome to hear from other photographers, what God was doing in their lives and businesses. I was reminded of how important it is to have community. So many times we think we can cruise through life with out putting God first on our to do list. Don't get me wrong, I will be the first to admit that I am guilty, but it galvanized me to start putting God first! I met so many new friends and definitely felt like I have known them for many years. I can't wait for WPPI 2011.

Well guess what - we were both at the same booth, I recognized her and asked her name, and told her who I was. VIVA LAS VEGAS: WPPI 2010

The time has come......I am so excited to be leaving for WPPI 2010 on Sunday and will be back Thursday evening. I will be going with my good friend, Kelly Lane and her good friend, Lora Ayers. This is my first time going and I can't wait to see how much I am going to grow and learn. The first time I ever went to a WPPI event was back in September, at a roadshow here in Atlanta, and because I attended this event I got free registration for WPPI 2010.

For those of you that don't know what WPPI is, it's a yearly photography convention where photographers come from all over the world to learn the latest techniques of photography. It's like going to the Emmy's for photographers!!! WPPI stands for Wedding Portrait Photographers International, and this is their 30th year anniversary.

I feel like a little girl in a candy shop, there is so much to choose from. There will be workshops, parties, and a chance to hear some amazing photographers speak. One photographer I am excited to meet, is the one and only Jasmine Star. She is a wedding photographer based out of Orange County, California and I am head over heels with her work. I will be also be attending The [B] school party hosted by another wedding photographer in California, name Becker. I am finally going to meet and see all the wonderful photographers that I blog stalk on a daily basis. I will be posting updates on my trip so be sure to check my blog daily.

BABY LUCAS

Just wanted to share some pictures from a newborn session I had yesterday. Lucas was born 11 days ago and boy was he so much fun. He is such a sweet baby and slept like a rock. I had such an awesome time with him and his mom, Janett. I will be posting more soon, but for now enjoy these.

EVIE + KITCHEN = MOLE ENCHILADAS

After two long weeks Daniel is finally home from Drill. While I was visiting Daniel in Augusta last weekend, I watched Marcela Valladolid's show called, "Mexican Made Easy" on the Food Network channel. She was making a dish called 'Easiest Ever' Chicken Mole Enchiladas. This dish looked so easy to make and so delish!!! So I got a brilliant idea to surprise him and make this meal for him. Especially because Mole is his favorite dish. For those of you that don't know what mole is, it's a thick Mexican sauce that consists of Mexican chocolate poured over chicken.

Once Daniel got home I told him that I was cooking something very special for him. Daniel being the person he is keep on asking me what I was making - don't worry I did not give in. I told him to relax because lunch would be ready in a little bit. I was a little nervous because I wanted my mole to come out perfect. When lunch was finally ready I got the table set up and added some candles. He looked at his plate and was in shock. "You made mole", Daniel said. I sure did was my response with a big smile. I waited for him to take the first bite and to my surprise when he did he said, Baby, this is so good!! I felt so relieved. I have to admit it was good and I was so proud of myself.

TO GO OR NOT TO GO?!?!?!

Should we go or leave? Maybe we can just look around for a couple of minutes? Were the questions rambling in Kelly and I 's brain. Kelly and I drove to the Atlanta Prison Farm Sunday afternoon. We were so anxious to get out and take pictures. The Atlanta Prison Farm is an old abandoned prison farm that operated from 1945 to 1995. This place is covered in graffiti, overgrown trees and is 290 acres. This is an astounding place for photographers!!
After driving past the abandoned prison several times, we decided it was best to leave and go somewhere else to take pictures. I mean who in their right mind would stay in an unknown area, especially when it's just two girls alone. We decided to come back another time with a group of people. LOFT @ CASTLEBERRY HILL: LUNCH AND LOOK

Today, I had the pleasure of attending a lunch and look at the Loft @ Castleberry Hill. To be honest I had never heard of this Loft until the fabulous Lisa Zachery from Papered Wonders Inc invited me to attend. I have been looking forward to this event all week. Anything that has to do with weddings I am in. I love, love weddings!!! If it was up to me I would have a wedding all over again (Just kidding, Baby).

When I first arrived at Castleberry I was a bit nervous, because I did not know anyone. I clinged to my camera for comfort and just stared taking pictures of the event. To my surprise, I began to loosen up and feel more comfortable ; I meet some amazing vendors. One of the vendors that I meet was Erica Angeline, she is such a beautiful person inside and out, and has an amazing gift. Erica designs and creates wedding and cocktail dresses, she has been doing this for 15 years.

As I walked into the Loft @ Castleberry I was smitten by how beautiful this venue is. The layout and design is amazing. The place is filed with natural light, which I love, especially for taking pictures. If you know me I like to use natural light as much as I can. The Loft is very modern and chic, perfect for a wedding.

ARE YOU LIVING YOUR DREAM?

How many of you have a dream? Almost everyone has a dream, but very few ever achieve it or realize it.

These were the words that John Maxwell asked yesterday at church, when he was talking about a book he wrote called, Put Your Dream to the Test: 10 Questions That Will Help You See It and Seize It. These words left a residue in my heart. A couple years ago, I saw a documentary called, Born into Brothels that changed my life. Have you ever seen it? If not, I recommend that you watch it. This documentary shows how Zana Briski, a photographer based out of New York, use photography to impact the lives of several children that live in the Red Light District in Calcutta, India. Zana shows these children how to look at the world through the eyes of a camera. Zana gave each child a camera so she could teach them photography, and told them to take pictures of whatever they wanted. These children all have a special talent and take amazing pictures. She uses their pictures in a exhibit so that the children have a better chance in life besides living in the Red Light District.

One of my dreams is to start a non-profit organization like Kids with Cameras, in El Salvador. This little country in Central America has a special place in my heart and also happens to be where both of my parents are from. My parents came from El Salvador when they were young in hopes of a better future. I want to be able to take kids of the streets and show them that God loves them and has a plan for their lives. I know that this is not going to happen over night, but this is a dream that will one day come soon. In the meantime, I have decided to do whatever it takes to makes this dream into a reality.

I just got off the phone with my husband, Daniel who by the way is away for drill. Last month when he left for drill, he found out he was being deployed to Afghanistan for one whole year. When I spoke to Daniel today, he was giving me all the details.When I was on the phone with him I was holding back my tears. I did not want him to hear me cry because he hates it when I cry. Besides I want him to know that I am behind him 100% and how proud I am of him. As I am writing this post my emotions are scattered. I am sad, excited, worried, and peaceful. I am excited for him because since he got back from training he has been ready to leave. I keep on telling myself that this is the PERFECT time for him to leave because, we don't have kids. I admire men/women that are raising their children while their husbands/wives, fiances, boyfriends/girlfriends are off fighting. My hat goes toward you LADIES/MEN!!!

Daniel and I both believe that this is God's will for the time being. This is one Valentine Day I will never forget. I feel the hand of God protecting him and I know that Daniel is going to be guided with the wisdom of God. Daniel is leaving in December and I know that 2011 is going to be a good year!!! I love my husband soooo much for his ability to give. Daniel has alway been a giver and I love him for that. I am constantly learning from him. God has been so good to us and continues to show us his grace and favor. I am so thankful for the people that God has placed in our lives and I will forever be indebted in their kindness.

IT'S SNOWING!!!

Yesterday, we had SNOW!!! I honestly did not think think that we were going to get snow, let alone a lot of it. I left work early just so that I would not be stuck in traffic and of course to PLAY in the snow. I just wanted to share with you all pictures of me and Daniel having fun and playing in the snow. It was such a beautiful afternoon.We are supposed to get some more snow on Monday?!?!?

TAPIA: MATERNITY SESSION

Alhejandro and Janett are expecting a baby boy the end of February. Last Sunday, Daniel and I went to Fire of Brazil to celebrate Alhejando mom's birthday. After our tummies were full we ventured over to the W Hotel to get some maternity pictures of them. I have been persuading Janett to let me do a maternity session with her and Alhejandro. When she finally agreed, I was thrilled. I mean look how beautiful she is!!!! Daniel and I have known Alhejandro and Janett for sometime and are very good friends of ours.

I can't wait to see baby Lucas and also get some newborn pictures of him. Alhejandro and Janett, thank you so much for letting me be a part of this moment, I know that you two are going to be awesome parents.

MISS. ZOE GRACE

Miss Zoe Celia Grace made her appearance on November 18, 2009 to Riley and Melisa Grace. Which happens to be the day before Melisa's birthday,I can't imagine what a special birthday gift Melisa received!!!! I just adore Zoe's name. Zoe means "Life" and Celia means"Heaven". Zoe's middle name came from Melisa's grandmother, Aracelia. This precious bundle of joy is the first child for both of them, and the first grand-daughter for Melisa's mom. Melisa contacted me and asked if I would be able to take some pictures of Zoe, Melisa and Grandma since her mother was going back to Florida. I have known Riley and Melisa for quite some time. I remembered their wedding day and now they are having their first child, I can't believe how fast time flies by. I was so happy to be able to capture these moments for them. Melisa and Riley I am sorry it took me a minute to post these pictures, but I hope you enjoy these!!!

PUG MEETNG : MIKE LARSON

This past Tuesday, Kelly and I ventured out to Decatur to attend Pictage User Group (PUG) Meeting, and having Mike Larson as a guest speaker. I had never heard of him before but I was pretty sure that we were in for a real treat. This was our first time attending a PUG Meeting and I am sure we will start going more often. As soon as Kelly and I walked in the door, we were greeted with a warm smile and some southern hospitality by Shari Zellers.

Mike literally took me by surprise with his unreal presentation. He really offered some wise advice on not getting burned out with the business which he spoke from experience. I love it when photographers are so open to share their ups and downs.He was very accommodating with his knowledge. He also spoke about leadership and how we have to act like CFOs, after all we are CFOs of our business. Mike mentioned one of my favorite speakers/authors, Dave Ramsey and John Maxwell. I never really payed attention to the leadership aspect of running a business, but Mike sure did put me in my place. Since starting photography I am learning a lot about myself.

Mike has a technique that he uses called a camera toss. I know you are probably thinking what is the world is that? Well, what he does is he puts the camera on self timer and throws it up in the air. If you are heroic enough to try it then check this out. Good Luck in trying. .That is definitely going out of the box. I don't think I would try this, but his pictures are incredible.

If anyone is in the Atlanta area and is interested in hearing John Maxwell speak, he will be at my church on February 13th and 14th. Please let me know how your camera toss goes?

TO DO LIST FOR 2010

I know that a list is vital, but I've never been a list maker. I find myself making lists and not following them. So I have decided the heck with them. Today, I decided I would give it another try and make a to do list for 2010. Also, don't be a hater. Leave me some blog love with your comments!!! :0) *Have a great weekend!!

1.Absorb as much information as I can at WPPI 2010.

2. Grow as a person and as a photographer

FEAR OF FAILURE.....

Failure....Why is it that we are so afraid to fail but, at the same time we are so afraid to succeed? I have to ask myself this question daily. Have you ever wanted something so bad that it hurts? I know I have. That is the way I feel about photography. I eat, drink,and live photography - heck it's all I think about! I was so petrified to start a photography business. My biggest fear was, what if it fails? I have to keep on telling myself - A failure is someone that gives up without trying. If I don't try, I will always wonder what if in the back of my head. Will anyone like my pictures? What is my style? What am I good at? What am I not good at? These questions are constantly playing in my head. My fear of not making my parents proud. My fear of leaving school to become a nurse to pursue photography. What if I don't make it? Again, those what if questions playing in my head. Why are we so afraid to run after our dreams? Is it the fear of failure? I know that God provides, and that is something that I am reminded of on a daily basis. How about the time I went to Europe for six weeks by myself and was getting short on money, someone mysteriously deposited $1,000 in my account!! Again, God provides. What about the time, I got an email from Kate telling me I got accepted for her internship. That was totally a God thing!!! Someone taking the time to share their up's and down's to help someone else follow their dreams!!! Besides, isn't it our failures that make us better? I leave you all with a quote from Theodore Roosevelt: It is hard to fail, but it is worse never to have tried to succeed. P.S I have some pictures of a recent session that will be posting soon!!!

liana's PARTY

Last Saturday, my friend Kelly and I had attended the launch party for liana photography's website at StudioWed here in Atlanta. We had such a blast meeting new people and checking out Liana’s new website. I had been looking forward to this all week and was afraid it was going to be cancelled due to the weather. It was such a pleasure to meet liana, Michelle White, and Megan. One of the photographers that I meet was Michelle White. We talked and we talked and talked some more. Through our conversations I found out that she knows someone that I know. What a small world!?! Michelle had also attended Jamine Star's workshop this past November and was telling us all about it. I was so jealous, but also happy that she was able to attend and learn so much. Michelle it was so nice to meet you. I can't wait to get together and hang out. One more thing....This was my first week of my internship. I will blog more about this later!! Till then enjoy my photos from Saturday!!!

BEING R.E.A.L

So where do I begin??? What a crazy week this has been for me. I hate it when you wake up on the wrong side of the bed and you feel like nothing is going your way. Is it just me or do you ever feel like that? This past week, I felt like Oscar the Grouch. As much as I hate it when I get in moods like this, God always has another plan behind it. I don't know where I would be without my husband's love and patience. This week I called him (I can't remember why) and he could tell I was not in a good mood. I mumbled some stuff to him and then I said,"Good Bye". A couple minutes later he called me back and asked me what was wrong with me and I told him that I did not feel like talking about it. Whenever I am in one of my moods he constantly bugs me until I tell him what is bothering me. As much as I hate when he does this I have to be honest and say that it really makes me see that I am being a little dramatic. Especially, when he is wright about something and I know he is but I don't want to admit it. Oh, me!!He always reminds me not to get upset about something I have no control over. I am learning from him more and more each day. How compassionate, loving, and patient he is. It's funny how we are so different but at the same time we compliment each other. The other day he came home and brought me roses, boy did he make my day. I just can't say how much I adore fresh flowers. I believe they are a girl's best friend, besides diamonds! Whenever I start to write a post on my blog, I always ask Daniel to proof read it for me. The last time I asked him to proof read one of my posts he gave me a look, and asked me if I was sure because when he tries to give me his opinion, I get upset. I told him I will try to not get upset. I hate to break it you but my trying did not work. I walked away to refresh my mind and when I came back we just looked at each other and laughed!! I apologized to him for getting upset. A couple of days ago we were sitting in the living room and I turned to him and told him," Baby, thank you for loving me with my flaws". I mean I have the best husband the world could ever offer. I would not trade him for the world and I am so in love with this man!! Sorry, if I seem too personal but I am just being REAL. DAMARI

A few months back my cousin, Damari came in town for work. She has one of the luckiest jobs and she gets to travel the world. Every time we are together we have a blast. We decided to take a mini road trip to Helen, Georgia. I wanted to take her to see the beautiful German town and Georgia Mountains. On our way we keep on seeing great spots for pictures. I can't remember how many times we stopped to enjoy the scenic view and take a breath of fresh air. It was the perfect day. A guy told us that it had been raining the past few months and it was the first time the Sun had made an appearance. We stopped by at Hofer's Bakery for lunch and it was delicious. As soon as I walked in Hofer's I could smell the fresh bread and pastries. This was the first time I had been here and it was not bad at all. Most of the time, I like to try new types of food. As soon as we started to walk around I felt like I was back in Germany with the chalets and cobblestone alleys. The Chattahoochee river runs through the middle of Helen. During the summer you can tube along the river and take in the scenery. Damari is such a beautiful person inside and out. It's not often that we hang out and see each other but when we do we always pick up where we left off. I just could not resist not taking her picture. I mean look at her, she is gorgeous and fierce. Damari's dad is my dad's twin brother. How cool is that to have a twin uncle. I remember the first time I saw my uncle I thought he was my dad :( We had a blast hanging out and taking pictures. Damari had such a blast being a model for me. I will always cherish the time we had!!! Thanks girl and I love you!!! Happy New Year!!!! Um, didn't I tell you she is beautiful??

BOOKS ARE A GIRLS BEST FRIEND....

I know that New Years has not arrived yet but something I am going to do more of in 2010 is read, read, read, and read some more!! I use to be a book worm when I was a little girl. My favorite books to read was R.L Stine and The Babysitters Club. I could sit for hours and hours just reading away. I remember reading a book, and feeling like I was in another world. It helped me escape my every day life. My sister would always tell me that I read too much. Books are enriched with so much knowledge. The most important book I MUST read more of is my Bible. Where would I be without the word of God? I want to base my business on His foundation. Gods word sustains me and always reminds me to trust in Him. Whenever I feel like I can't do this or feel fear rising up His word is always there to comfort me.To remind me that God gives me the strength to do everything. What an awesome God we serve, to know that He is always on our side. I will end this post with a scripture from Psalm 18:30 (The Message) : What a God! His road stretches straight and smooth. THE CAMP FAMILY

This weekend I had the pleasure of photographing a family that is dear to my heart. Nathan and Lisa have been a HUGE blessing to Daniel and I. They are the type of people that you can always count on and I just adore them!! They moved to Orlando a few years ago and recently moved back to Atlanta. We had such a blast with them and their three kids - Madison, Landon and Justice. Hey, their kids even said that Daniel and I were cool grown ups!! How could I not love these kids!! This family totally rocked this session. They toughed out the cold weather and were so much fun to shoot. After our session we decided to have lunch at Fellini's Pizza. If you have never been there then you must go and try them out. There food is good! After we had pizza we went to The Yogurt Tap. TAKING THE PLUNGE

I have some exciting news to share with you all. Where do I start? I got accepted to intern with an awesome photographer, Kate Byars. I feel so honored to be under her wing. I will forever be indebted with her for her time and her knowledge. I met Kate while I attended WPPI Roadshow in Atlanta. The weird thing is, as soon as we saw each other we both said, " I know you from somewhere!" I remember thinking "where do I know her from?" Another funny thing is Kate attended the conference with another Atlanta photographer I met on OSP, her name is Jenny Widmaier. This was the first time ever that I met Jenny in person. When I heard that Kate was looking for an intern I immediately contacted her to let her know that I was interested in the intership. We met for coffee to discuss what the internship was about. About a week later, I got an email from her telling me that I had been choosen to be one of her interns. I remember reading that email and feeling numb. I was so excited, and I knew this was the perfect time for this. So, I am taking the plunge and I've decided that I am putting school on hold. I am so excited to be focusing more on photography, learning, and growing my business.

So, So where do I start....I know it has been awhile since writing a post. Please forgive me!!! I have been extremely busy. My husband is finally home!! You start to realize how much you miss someone when they are gone. I also purchased a new camera. I am happy to say that in a couple of days I will be a proud owner of a Canon 5D. I currently shoot with a Canon EOS Rebel and I know that with the Canon 5D it's going to rock my world. I am determined to start blogging more. I hope you all have a great Thanksgiving!! ERICA'S LINGERIE SHOWER

I had the opportunity of capturing a very special moment for a very specialyoung lady, name Erica. These pictures were taken at her beautiful home. Her home was decorated so beautiful with roses, candles, pearls, and lingerie. My co-worker, Anne (who also happens to be Rev. Ogg's beautiful wife) decorated the shower. She loves event planning and has an eye for decoration. Ricky and Erica are getting married in February; they truly are a match made in heaven!!! Erica and Ricky met by one of the Pastors (Rev. Oggs) at her church. He matched them up, which is something he never does. After he asked Erica if it would be ok to give Ricky her number she said, "yes". Ricky called Erica and they talked like they had known each other for years. They meet up that same afternoon and the rest is history!!! I am so happy that God has put you two together, and can't wait for what God has in store for the both of you!!! Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share these moments with you.

Gwinnett County Fair

After church this past Sunday, I had lunch with my sister and her family and then went to the fair. I had such a blast. It reminded me of when I was a little girl. WPPI Road Show Atlanta

Please forgive me, I know it's been awhile since I've posted anything. So this past weekend we had some crazy weather!! Yesterday I had an awesome time attending WPPI's Road Show in Atlanta. I was so excited about this event and knew that I would learn so much and meet some great photographers. I wasn't sure if the weather would permit me to attend, but I was determined to go no matter what. I called the hotel to make sure the workshop was still on, and yes it was still going on. My friend Kelly and I got in the car, and off we went. We had such a blast. We meet some new PhotogFriends and learned so much. We got to hear Kirk Vocain ,Tony Corbell , and Sarah Petty....and the one and the only Kevin Kubota. All of them are such talented photographers. We heard about everything from Marketing to Lighting to Portraits to how to handle your Workflow. Every time I come from an event like this, it really inspires me. I can't wait to take what I learn and put it into action!!!

This post is dedicated to my husband...Daniel and I have been married for almost two years! Wow I can't believe how time flies by. Daniel joined the Military(National Guard) in March of this year. I am so proud of him and thankful for having such an A-W-E-S-O-M-E husband. I can't express how thankful I am for him serving our Country, not just him but all of our soldiers. Thank you baby for being supportive of my dreams and I can't wait until you come home. Hooah!!! I have the best husband in the world and I thank God every day for bringing him into my life. Over the summer I had the opportunity to photograph a wonderful couple. This was one of my first sessions and I was so nervous.My heart melts whenever I think of them. They are one of a kind and I am very thankful for their time. So we took these pictures in Old Town Suwanee. I was drenched in sweat put it was so worth it! Their new baby girl made her debut appearance on 09-09-09. I am so happy for them and know that they are going to be amazing parents. I have been trying to meet up with some wedding photographers here in Atlanta, and I have to say it's been impossible. Either I can't make it or they can't make it. This does not discourage me it only pushes me more to keep on trying. I see myself as a BIG wedding photographer!! I don't mean to sound conceited, but If I don't believe in myself than who will? I want to do something I enjoy. I hear too many people complain about what they do and how much they hate it. I don't want to be like that. I want to do something that I love and have a passion for.
